S3LQ's love of photography, and more specifically, Fujifilm's Instax Mini Monochrome polaroid film is what inspired this set. See the world in shades of grey with GMK Shashin featuring the darkest darks and brightest whites.

Given Fujifilm is based in Tokyo, Japan it made sense to include a Hiragana sublegend kit to truly capture Shashin's origins.
